Can't delete pic's off iphone

We have an unlock iphone that has a folder with pic's in it from our old phone. I guess when we tranferred the contact list the pictures came over too. They are in the photo library. When we take pics they go to the camera roll. For some reason it doesn't give us an option to delete these pic's off the iphone. Does anybody know what we have to do?

Plug in your phone to your computer. In the iPhone section in iTunes, go to the Photos tab and in there you'll see albums to sync or something like that. Uncheck the album thats there.
