Need Help!! Cant be heard on mic

Ive had my iphone for a week which i bought off ebay. No one can hear me unless i have the headphones plugged in, even on speaker phone they cant hear me but i can hear them fine either way. If i blow into the mic the person can hear it or if i speak really loudly when the phone is right up to my mouth they can hear me. Dont know what to do. Please help.

Try plugging and unplugging the headphone jack several times. Your problem happens every so often.

if dturners advice doesnt work try going into settings and reset all settings... this helped my problem...

ok so ive tried the headphone trick already and continue to try it with no success and ive also tried resetting all settings a few times and nothing. anything else? my phone's jailbroken, it already was when i bought it..could that have something to do with it?

It could. Do a restore in iTunes, and set it up as a new phone. If that doesnt work, you can take it to the Apple store and get a new one, that is if its still under warranty.

I cant take it to an apple store, i live in canada..

Try the full restore and see if that solves your problem. Of course, you'll have to unlock it again.

the guy you bought it from might have ruined the mic somehow. do you have a warranty from him?

i restored it again and did everything individually and i have sound back but the mic still doesnt work. no i dont. the auction said nothing about the mic not working cuz if it had i wouldnt have bought it.
