We all know Steve Jobs is filthy rich. I just watched at the video of the keynotes and, once again, I am amazed at how little style this guy has. I mean, come on dude, spend an extra $20 on those jeans and get yourself some 501... What about the shoes and the sweater? Did they have a sale at Ross or what?

When you're as rich as Jobs, you don't have to worry about conforming to the style tastes of peons.

Good for him.

He doesnt need to dress to impress. Everyone is already aware with what he has.

I guess I am with you on this one, but I am kind of a cloths whore.
On the other hand, I guess this has become his signature and everyone comes to expect it.

LOL . . . Being confident and being a dominant force in your field means . . . You never need to apologize for the way you dress. Besides, Steve Jobs is obviously comfortable and secure with who he is. Gotta love it.

Britney spears is rich and her hair always makes her look like she is a filthy crack addicted prostitute. I don't get it either! Hire a hairstylist. sell one of your million cars if you need to. wash your hair at least. yuck.

I think Steve's dressing down is pretty cool. Maybe that is the way he always remembers where he came from, and where he is now (what a difference 20+ years makes). Steve is truly, an "American Success Story"....Mark

I think thats cool that you can be rich and know your rich, yet smart enough to know you have nothing to prove, or impress anyone :)
-In my HighSchool everyone try's so hard to "look" rich by buying semi-expensive clothes that have the name brand plastered across the chest or buying an iPhone, yet the people who "are" rich-although they do wear expensive clothes- dont show off at all and usually dress more conservatively :)

Here's an example:http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2016/2453313890_934e588a8b_m.jpgof the people wanting to be rich, and the people who are richhttp://farm4.static.flickr.com/3169/2507465059_d194955db2_m.jpg

I think if Steve wore an Armani suit, Bruno Molly shoes and some bling, we would probably hold a different opinion of him. Cause he knows we put those cloths on his back, and he dosent want his consumer base to think he's spending money on image and not putting it to R&D for better products....Bill Gates dresses similar in that he wears the same thing over and over (kinda like in the movie the fly, where Goldbloom has a closet full of the same outfit so he dosent waste precious thought on what to wear).
The geniuses always dress the worst IMO

^^ Thats why most americans are in debt, trying to live the life of a celebrity, instead of saving money they blow it all the second that check comes in the mail :(

Now theres nothing wrong with treating yourself "every once in a while", but pretending your a celebrity by going to the mall, getting your hair and nails done everyday is stupid.

My neighbor about a year ago bought a Black on White Land Rover and had to take it back like 2weeks later cause he couldnt afford the maintenance nor insurance lol!

Dude, come to LA. You will see that mentality here big time!! The whole "pretending to be a celebrity" and get their nails done every day.

All I an say is one thing: 97.1 Tom Leykis show.

I read somewhere that Albert Einstein had a closet full of the same outfits. He chose to wear the same thing every day because that was one less decision he had to make.

I also read that Steve Jobs adopted the same philosophy.

Makes sense - throw on the same mock turtle neck and jeans, and you don't have people asking, "Why's he dressed up today?" or "Did he have a rough night last night?", etc.

Of course, there was a time when he dressed more stylishly. Back when John Sculley was CEO of Apple, he used to wear bow ties.

-"Its best to not only learn from your own mistakes, but to learn from others", thats also one of his quote that I remember, although not worded exactly how he said it :(

Sam Walton dressed like a poor farmer all his life.:2cool:

He also underpaid his employees and shorted them on benefits.

I think Steve's clothes are intended to make you think he is down-to-earth and accessible.

I've never met the guy but I'm still annoyed about having to buy a whole new phone (3G) to get decent Internet speeds. If he really cared about others he would have some sort of loyalty discount for those of us who have been keeping him in flannel shirts & Birkenstocks.

As far as I'm concerned, he's no different from Bill Gates.

I dont think its that these rich people dont have style or taste, but that the hired "publicist" knows how to make the consumer make good perceptions about a person without even knowing him or her :)

Publicist specialize in the risky art of "First Impressions", and perceptions :)

I'm not really sure that you can compare Steve Jobs to Bill Gates.

The day Steve Jobs does something like this:

http://www.gatesfoundation.org/default.htm

Then I think we can start comparing. At least Gates is using his billions to help good causes.

Jobs is just interested in making as much money for his shareholders (other big corporations), while screwing over the little guy (us).

Totally agree! When Jobs came back with Apple in the 90's, the first thing he did was shutting down Apple's non profit organization. Please people wake up! Stop idolizing Steve Jobs and thinking he's your best buddy. Steve Jobs is a greedy, egocentric, self absorbed tyrant. My buddy works at Apple and when he was hired, the first thing HR told him was "if you see Jobs, don't talk to him, don't salute him, don't look at him in th eyes at no cost".

On the other hand, he's one of the most brilliant and creative CEOs. You can't take that away from him. He's a true visionary. But hey, I still hate the man and love the businessman

^^ Yeah theres this channel called G4TV that had a "Icons" on apple, and they said that when he came back to apple, to never walk with or get on elevator with him...Cause he would bring up conversations about what was your purpose in apple, and why your valuable to apple and if you didnt answer it correctly or just werent relevant to apple you fired their on the spot!

Well, he is the kind of person who isn't always wanting of some special style, and he didn't come from the wealthiest background. I have read a biography of him, and it seems that he doesn't really care too much.

Plus, these clothes have become his trademark, so he can't change them now!
