You can't install third party apps unless you jailbreak the phone. The stock iPhone does not have a facility to watch videos from the web.

Even a jailbroken iPhone will not display video embedded in a web page. There are workarounds, but they usually involve evoking the Youtube app from Safari.

It is not ideal, but that's the way it is.

the phone will only play quicktime videos in safari
