So when the new iPhone comes out I plan on popping out the sim and keeping this as an iPod. I can't change the system string for this thru customize. Any hack I could do to change it?

Im not sure if there are any other hacks for this, but isnt there something you can do to the baseband or something like that, that will completely erase the phone part of the iPhone and itll say iPod on top and actually think its an iPod...

Make It Mine changes the carrier logo - not the 'NO SIM' text. It's probably somewhere it the Springboard, but maybe not. I plan on simply deleting MobilePhone.app and MobileSMS.app, but changing the SIM text would be nice. Look around in some .plist files and tell me if you find anything.

If an iPhone isn't activated, which it won't be, you can't even use the iPod feature. I learned that the hard way.. =\

Really? What if it was activated and simply has its SIM removed?

Not sure really. When I called AT&T to cancel my plan, they said I can't use the iPod feature anymore.

Then you can use the iPod feature, up until you need to do a restore. If locked, the iPhone will then flash the activation message on the screen and prevent any use other than emergency calls. If unlocked, you can restore to your heart's content and continue to use the iPod with or without a SIM installed. I've tested this using my Pwnaged jailbroken/unlocked iPhone. When I go to restore, I restore using the customized firmware I created using IPSW Builder.

Yeahh...not true. It can still be used...all the features of the phone can be used except anything that involves using AT&T things like calling, and edge internet browsing.

Really? Cause I even said that to the Apple representative, and he said once your phone is deactivated, you can't even use the iPod feature. And I said that's bull and he said yeah, it is. Lol
