well i decided i would try the app FontSwap. bad idea, i got the SWOD. i was still able to connect the iphone to itunes and sync and do everything through ibrickr though, weird. well now im back to a stock iphone, and probably will stay that way until 2.0 is released, just too much work to add ALL my apps and customize all over again.

Im not sure If I'll ever jailbreak an iPhone, cause with the recent post with bricking of their iPhones after trying to uninstall it have gotten me scared!

Shame you weren't hip to TimeCapsule. I got my iPhone exchange back to full JB status with all my apps in under 2 hours last week.

how does timecapsule work. do you have to make an account and then all you stuff is stored on a common server?

it is almost impossible to brick. there used to be a danger when unlocking because you had to change the bootloader but that issue has been fixed with ziphone and pwnge. if anything ever goes wrong with a jailbroken the worst thats going to happen is that you have to restore and set up as a new phone.

No no nothing like that. It's a program that will back up various settings and folders on your iPhone.webclips, youtube favs, bookmarks, general settings, installer sources... that sort of stuff that's annoying to put back. It's all stored in a folder on the phone which you can then pull off via SSH. Then when you rejailbreak, install TC, pop the folder back in there, and restore away. It works really well... although it messed up my installer sources so I had to redo those, but no big whoop.

when i did a restore i didnt set up as new. all my settings were the same as before i restored. the only thing i had to do was add my sources again download a few apps and customize. so unless timecapsule remembers how my phone was customized it seems pretty useless to me.

What are the advantages of Jailbreaking? Like what are some cool apps you can get?
Finally will it clutter my iPhone screen with all the widgets? -I cant stand a cluttered looking iPhone screen!

many of the key features that are missing in the stock iphone can be acquired through jailbreaking. you can organize your home screen how you want. theres also and app called categories, with which you can categorize all you apps. categorize allows you to group your apps and then you just hit a button and then those apps will show up. for example you could have a games category where all your games are so then you just have the 1 icon for that instead of an icon for every game you have

if something does go wrong in most cases theres a quick and simple fix and if worst comes to worst all you need to do is restore in itunes and the phone will be fine again. i dont know of a single case where a jailbroken phone got bricked. it used to be that upgrading your unlocked phone would brick it but even that doesnt happen anymore.
