Ok I have now posted this message 3 times and I apologize for that but I need help ASAP...

HELP! I went to ZiPhone and downloaded then last night I tried to JB and unlock my phone and did not get far at all. My screen on the phone is now black (like DOS prompt) and is says the following:

Singleuser boot -- fsck not done
Root device is mounted read only

If you want to make modifications to files:
/sbin/fsck-fy
/sbin/mount-uw /

If you wish to boot the system:
exit

May 28 13:18 launchd[8]: can't exec/bin/sh for single user: No such file or directory

I hope someone can help me? I am not too tech savvy but thought I could do this myself. At this point I just want to restore it back to the unbroken version it was so that I can at least upload my itunes back on to it as I have a business trip tomorrow and will need my music for the flight. I can work the unlocking and jb when I get back next monday.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Have you tried putting the phone in DFU mode? Hold the power and home buttons at the same time and when the phone cuts off, release the home button but CONTINUE to hold the power button until the phone tells you to restore thru itunes........

Thank you for your response...

First I must ask, do I need to do the DFU mode with the phone connected to the computer?

when i do the DFU mode (without it connected to the computer) the apple icon will come up like its powering on and then it will go away like it powered off. And yes I hold the power button down. It continues through this pattern continuely and if I let go of the power button it comes back on and displays the same message as it did before.

Did I screw my phone up for good?

Tried doing it hooked up to iTunes and the computer and itunes are not recognizing the iphone being connected. But one thing that is different now with it hookeup to the computer is once it powers down and I relaease the home button and continue to hold down the power button the apple icon comes up and then it processes through the command lines and ends right back at the error screen I had before. :frown: I am trying to be patient but I am just too excited to use this thing :laugh2:

You're not doing the DFU right. You have your buttons reversed. You need to press and hold the home button (bottom round button) and power button (top part of the phone) together. Once the screen goes blank, release the power button (top part of the phone) but continue to hold down the home button (bottom round button). Then, you will see it showing it to be connected to the computer.

Once you see it show that, connect it to your computer, launch iTunes. You should now see it recognize (or see) your phone. Select the restore button and restore it to the latest firmware (1.1.4). Once you do that, try running Ziphone again. Make sure you're running the Ziphone 3.0 version.

Good luck!

The first mention is what the iphone screen shows you. From that point on, you can connect it to the computer.

If the DFU restore doesn't work, then I really don't know what to do next. I hope it's not permanently damaged or anything.

You cannot enter DFU/Recovery Mode without having the phone be plugged into the computer.
