I searched but it said "to common" and I am sure it's been discussed so I apologize in advance.
What is the deal with the "other" file on the phones hard drive?
I have 2.5 gig being used by this.
Thanks in advance.

What firmware are you on?
Are you jailbroken?
How many apps do you have?
How many gigs of music do you have?
How many gigs of video do you have
4 8 or 16 Gb iPhone?
All these questions matter if you are to find someone to help you sir.
If I had to guess without knowing any of that, I would say that you SSH'd into your phone and added 2 Gigs of stuff to your phone. Or, you used BossTool, moved your apps, and now have 9 pages of apps

Did you buy it new or used. Also, are you trying to connect to the same iTunes that you installed your music and vids? Has the phone ever been jailbroken?

There is no reason why you would have 2.5Gb of Other on your phone. Just restore without syncing your old backup. When you get the prompt in iTunes, tell it you want to to set up as a new phone. Then import you music, videos, and pics back into your phone.

Ok, so far this has worked. Now the big problem is that I lost some contact info that I entered yesterday.
And she's a hottie too.
Reloading all the music and stuff now.

For me, i had other as like 5 gb. When i restored it, i pressed update instead, so all the files were still there, but under Other. So you should just restore your phone and it should be ok!
