View Full Version : My constant need to reboot...

It seems as though every time I get a call (that's an exaggeration, it's probably one in three) or try to switch screens, or unplug the charger my phone freezes and I have to reboot it with the home and on/off buttons. I am missing tons of calls because I can't answer them (even with headphones or bluetooth) and it's driving me crazy. Also, I can only hear calls on bluetooth or speaker phone, I can no longer hear through the regular phone function.

On the plus side, my (nearly) local Apple store says they will replace the phone. I bought it on June 29 of last year. They were really nice when I called, and made me an appointment with a pro-care specialist. They said they would believe me even if it didn't do it when I was in the store. I need a working phone to sell on ebay the minute the 3G comes out!

I was very happy with Apple's level of customer service!

let them go ahead and swap it out. for the kind of money you paid, it should still be working correctly.

if you are going to swap out, make sure you look at the difference between the screens. It is quite dramatic. It is much like the difference between standard lightbulbs and "natural light" lightbulbs. The very first iPhones tinted blue like "natural" bulbs. The new ones tint stongly yellow.

Good to hear. Hope you get the replacement the minute you walk in.

Last Friday I got my iPhone replaced due to "smudged LCD screen" looked like a dead pixel to me that glowed. Anyways, the new iPhone they gave me has been acting this same way. It freezes a lot. I did jailbreak it the moment I got home, but I use only a few apps (Video Recorder, Touchpad, Synchstep, and MobileChat). Not sure what I should do. Restore and see if it still freezes and if so take it back? Or uninstall apps and see?

BTW, the speaker problem has happened to me and I figured it out. This applies to everyone. If you cannot hear anything through the earpiece, (only though speakerphone or bluetooth), it is because there is a glitch with the unplugging of the phone while music is playing. For some reason sometimes when you unplug the iPhone when music is playing it knocks the phone into some kind of mode which triggers this. To fix it just plug headphones into jack, play music, pause music, unplug headphones. The iPhone earpiece speaker should work now.
