So, I have seen a bunch of posts, both here and abroad, about 90-day warranty on the refurbs many of us have purchased from AT&T in the past couple weeks. I am here to tell you that most of you are entitled to the full 1 year warranty. Here is exactly how to do it. (Not cheating or being sneaky, either)

1. First, take a look at your blue and orange refub box and look for the sticker that says:

"10% restocking fee applies to ALL refurbished iPhone returns. Refurbished iPhones have a full 1 year warranty. You must retain receipt for warranty claims through Apple."

If you have that sticker, you can rest easy knowing that you definitely can get your 1 year warranty restarted. Now, your receipt will most likely not help you since your serial# and IMEI# are not on the receipt you received with your phone. A quick call to Apple Customer Care and I was informed that Apple can't reset the warranty, since that is initiated by the carrier. This makes sense because your warranty starts the day you sign up with AT&T.

2. I dialed 611 from my iphone and was connected to AT&T customer service. Get through to a real person and ask to be switched to the Warranty Department.

3. Explain to the warranty department that you just bought the refurb from AT&T and the box says you get 1 year on refurbs. Tell them that they need to contact the Agreements Department in Admin. They will know you are serious, and will get it taken care of for you.

When I called them, I was placed on hold by the warranty department guy for about 5 minutes while he talked to the Agreements Department. By the time he got back to me, my warranty date was already changed on the Online Service Assistant. I hope this helps some of you get the full warranty you deserve.

I faxed my receipt to Apple and they updated the purchase date so I had one full year warranty through them.
