No details on whether the iPhone will have GPS are known. I would say you have a 50-50 chance of it having GPS. Buy one, and find out. :)

It would pretty sad if it didn't have gps. Are they trying to keep customers away? I doubt people will pay 500 dollars to "upgrade" to 3g only. There better be some good sh*t in the new one besides one feature widely available for years.

I hope it does include GPS, but some reports are saying that the new version will not be as different from the original as people are expecting. One even described the new version as lipstick on a centerfold.

The iPhone is already amazing, so lipstick on a supermodel is fine with me. 3G and the upcoming 2.0 firmware are big!

Apple have always steered away from fm radio apart from their little headphone add on for the ipod. I'd say there's more chance of GPS than a FM radio. Of course this is becasue like forwarding an SMS message FM radio techology is just too advanced:tounge:

______________I saw this mentioned today on Fortune -- where an analyst said not to get expectations too high, saying it was nothing more than a 3G upgrade. I cannot imagine that after a year, that's all Stevie has got for us. If that's true, I wouldn't be surprised to see it priced less than the existing model. At that point, I'll feel bad for those past the 15 day return period. Not too bad, since I paid full price x 2 on iDay.

That might explain AT&T's willingness to subsidize the new iPhones. Neither Apple/or AT&T would take much of a loss if the only new feature (which contributes to a net increase in unit cost) is the 3G radio.

With the hints at geocaching and phototagging support or whatever, I think the new one will have GPS. I'm really hoping so, but not because I'm getting the new phone. If they put GPS in there, that means Google Maps will rewrite its code to support GPS, which means perhaps I might finally be able to use my bluetooth GPS receiver with my iPhone.

[fingers crossed]

Here's a thread (http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/news/139171-199-iphone-you-oh-has-gps.html) on it and ModMyiFone.
