What is your dream? Like the thing that once you have completed it, life will be kinda boring with nothing left to strive for. :D
Actually Hayes,
I live my dream every day. I play music for a living, am very good at what I do, and get paid for it. Sometimes when I get my check and look at it, I laugh, because the people who pay me don't realize that I would pay THEM to play in some of the situations I work in. And I DO work for free .
I don't play for the paycheck, I play because (to paraphrase Stephen King from "On Writing") "with the abilities I have been graciously given, for me to NOT play music is just plain STUPID".
I spend the majority of my life (almost every day as a matter of fact) setting goals for myself and then achieving them. Some are small, some are long term.
I bore easily and need to keep myself occupied, so I find new things to do every day.
Thank you for your interest.
Good Day.

Do you find you get edgy / antsy / whatever the right word is, when you haven't traveled in a while?
Amazingly perceptive question, Patrick.
YES!
I have spent the majority of the past 16 years traveling all over the US and Canada. My tours are usually 40 weeks long , and often extend past that.
I am slightly claustrophobic and find if I spent too much time anywhere (especially boring, but sunny, Floirda) I get distressed.
When I am not in Florida, because it is a damn big state and almost every inch looks the same, I go on "Driveabout". That is a term stolen from the movie Crocodile Dundee (one of my favorite movies) where he would go on "Walkabout" which meant to go walking around and discover new places.
The list of ridiculous/fun/interesting places I have been would fill a phone book.
I think NOTHING of driving 300 miles to Montreal for dinner and a Canadiens game, I think nothing of driving Downeast Maine to watch the sunrise at the Easternmost Point in the United States and the first place that sees sunshine every day http://www.westquoddy.com/ and then driving to the top of Mount Washington on the same day to watch the sunset from the highest point east of the Mississippi .(Second highest point, but let's not split hairs).
I drive a BEAUTIFUL sports car and drive an average of 50, 000 miles a year, so your question was right on the money.
Thank you for your interest

I noticed you changed your location! How about some info there, and perhaps a close-up pic?
Hello Ma'am
Thank you for your interest.
I originally had Juno Beach Florida as my location. It is about 12 miles north of West Palm Beach, on the east coast. From June until October I live and work in Swampscott, Mass, about 15 miles north of Boston.
Somewhere along the way I made a Beavis and Butthead reference (also two of my heroes) and decided to go back to the old joke that was the origin of my screename.
In Massachusetts there is to town called Holden. So when you are young and in elementary schools and joke names like Hugh Jorgen and Mike Hunt are the heights of humor, someone (not me, unfortunately, I think it was my friend Dominic) introduced himself to someone as Dick Hurts from Holden.
Get it?:tounge:
Since I have been properly described as a 40 year old whose sense of humor still resides in the seventh grade (inside joke) I have maintained that name as the name I use for 99% of my memberships on the internet.
Buffy, thank you for your interest in another picture. Honestly, I have very few pictures of MYSELF. Almost every picture I have is of me with someone else (yes, a woman). I will look through the pictures I have, and see if some of my (male and female) friends could send me some they have of me.
Thank you.

Good Day, iCafe.
Thank you for your interest in my reveal.
Answer 1: Is this a trick question?
Answer 2: No, Sir, I am not a N_zi. (It seems that the word referring the the National Socialist Party of Germany in the 30's and 40's is a word that gets the old ***** treatment).
I am 100% Irish whose family was from Midleton, County Cork, Ireland, home of Michael Collins.
(Next Saint Patricks's day when you go to an Irish pub to drink, ask them if they have a picture of Michael Collins. If they do, go to the picture and toast the "Big Fella", If they don't have a picture, or don't know who he is, go find a REAL Irish pub).
Although I am Irish, I have (obviously) black hair black eyes and dark skin.
I had always been described as Black Irish and never really knew what it meant (except I was the brunt of a lot of racist jokes whenever the term was brought up).
I later found (while drinking at a Portuguese restaurant) that Black Irish are usually found in Southern Ireland, because the sailors who would leave Portugal at certain times of the year would get caught by certain tradewinds and blown directly north, right to the coast of Ireland, and the greatest port in South Ireland is Cork
So apparently I have some Portuguese in the woodpile.
Actually, Sir, I had considered us the Joe Friday and Ben Romero of your website.
Good Day, Sir

Hello Sir
Thank you for visiting my reveal.
I am fine, except Florida is having record heat. It was 97 degrees this week, which is the highest temperature I have ever seen in 15 years of living in Florida. It is very uncomfortable, but I know I will be returning back to Boston in 3 weeks, so the countdown has begun.
Sir, I must disappoint you with the answer to your second question.
It is a very good question, but I do not speak another language, I only speak English.
I truly am embarrassed, especially speaking with a person like yourself who must be multi lingual.
However, I must make an addenum.
I not able to CONVERSE in any single language except English, but I have memorized many words in many languages.
I worked as a bartender in an Asian restaurant (Bisutkei in Revere for all of you Bostonians) and learned many expressions in Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai.
I can say hello, goodbye, thank you, you're welcome, etc and I can put together a couple semi literate sentences in Japanese.
Being a person who likes food, I can pretty much get through any menu in any of the Continental cuisines, and pronounce the words correctly, and thank the host or chef in their own language.
Having spent a lot of time in Montreal, I can also get by in the language the Francophones call French, but really don't care to. I do know the French Lyrics to "O Canada".
Thank you for your kind words, Sam.
I know how to say Good Afternoon in Russian, but I don't know how to spell it.
Dobre Veyehur Apyr (Sorry, that's the best I can do)

P.S. If you know how to spell it in English, please let me know and I will correct it.

Hello Sir
Thank you for your interest in my reveal.
I have not seen that movie but have heard a lot about it.
I did not have time to go to Blockbuster tonight, but will look for it soon.
And for those of you wondering exactly WHY I would want to be a ballroom dancer:
I had a friend that I worked with who was a competitive ballroom dancer.
Her name was Valerie. She was the dance captain for the Detroit company of the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular.
The dance captain is usually the best dancer in the company and represents the actual choreographer once the original leaves the show. They are responsible for maintaining the choreography and teaching new actors.
Since the drummer and dance captain spend 66 hours a week together for three weeks during the rehearsal period, they are usually "associates" and sometimes friends. (Dance captains aren't always female, by the way).
One time at an opening night cast party she came up to me and asked me to dance. I said "I can't dance" and she said "Sure you can". (I normally would have resisted a little more vigorously, but she smelled so damn good, I just wanted to stand a little closer to her).
She grabbed me by the hand, led me out on the floor, put me in the frame and made me dance.
Foxtrot, waltz, swing, rhumba, she put me through the paces.
(She led of course).
What an incredible adrenaline rush! (A combination of the dancing, the perfume, and the attention I got from her and the rest of the company).
It was almost like flying.
I have tried dancing since, but like jumping out of an airplane, the first time is the best, and every time after that it is just trying to recapture the rush you got the first time.
Goodnight Valerie, wherever you are.

Nice story. I too love to dance but don't do it often. I had two older sisters who were raised in the 40's and 50's and they taught me swing at an early age. I still love swing, especially at weddings. Since this is Dana's thread i won't bore you with how much I enjoyed the disco period, wearing yellow Angel Flights. :embarrassed:
Dana, can you expand on what it's like to tour? It sounds like you stay away from home for extended periods. Do you stay in hotels? Is is mainly Boston? Tell us about the actual performances and how the musicians interact with the rest of the troupe and crew.

Hey Dana, we've heard about your dream gigs .... now how about some highlights from your worst?
Hello Sir
It is nice to see you at my reveal.
(I hope everything went well with your phone problem).
I have been playing drums professionally for 26 years and cannot even guess at how many thousands of gigs I have done. I do know I have played over 130 musicals.
The list of bad gigs is very short:
In my entire career I have done three (3) bad gigs.
Two of them were meaningless but one (THE BAD ONE, as it shall forever exist in my mind) was SO BAD that it came within inches of driving me out of the business forever and into the ****pit of a 737. It also nearly drove me to violently assault 3 people, for which I surely would gone to prison.
I am not exaggerating.
I have to prepare my appetizers for the cookout I am attending today, and will complete the stories later.
Good Day Dave,
