Is there a way to recover data from a restored ipod?

Please help, I'm yanking my hair out!! I plugged my ipod touch into my computer (a different computer) for the first time and it went haywire and sent it into recovery mode. I've read everything I could find about hidden files, changing drive letters, disk management, blah blah blah till I stumbled upon something saying the touch can't be used as an external drive. Does that mean it isn't possible to get my files off before I restore it?

Well actually I already bit the bullet and restored it, but I have a program "recover my files". Course, I can't see the ipod in this program. Is my situation hopeless? Am I just going to have to start recollecting music, etc?

Umm, I admit I'm curious what the Russian links are all about but I dare not click on them...

Please, someone! I know I'm ipod-ignorant but I spent so many hours collecting music and meticulously arranging the album art by hand and the thought of losing it all is downright scary. I know it's my bad for not backing up, but... help!
