ipod touch problem, repeating apple logo and cog

can someone please help me out here, my ipod is staying in the apple ipod logo and the cog shows occasionaly. can someone please tell me a way to get this fixed. thanks alot

Have u tried holding home and power till it reboots??
or hold home and power till phone shuts off then release power and while still holding home plug into iTunes and continue to hold home till plug into iTunes pic appears on screen then release home and let it load up.
