jailbreak or unlock

i will get my ipod touch 16gb next week and i want to know what is the first thing i will do jailbreak or unlock it ? and thanks

Because you have the Touch and not an iPhone, Unlocking is not required. Once, you've jailbroken, follow the guidance in this thread:
