First I would like to know is it worth it
Second I already have a account at AT&T and just plan on "extending" for the Iphone and not creating a new plan but I understand that you HAVE to buy a data plan for like the web is this true? Also how much will it be extra a month?

Thanks in advance

rumors (and at&t executives) indicate that the 3G iphone will be out this summer, so buying the current iphone may not be worth it to you if you want fast data transfer speeds (though this will probably only work well for you if you are in a fairly large city that has 3G coverage on at&t's network). if this doesn't matter to you and you really need a new phone, go ahead and get the iphone now.

a data plan is required. i believe that at&t did allow people to drop the data plan, but i thought i'd heard that they no longer allow this. the iphone unlimited data plan is an additional $20 per month - there is a lot of great information on apple's and at&t's web sites about the iphone and their plans and you should start there (here (http://www.apple.com/iphone/easysetup/rateplans.html#individual) is apple's page describing the plans).

It's worth every penny. I'm on at&t, and I have a 16GB.
I LOVE IT ..............:2cool:

Banjo,

I am about to pull the trigger on a 16gb...and I do believe it is very worth it.

This is not your Mommy's cell phone...not even close. I know there are look alikes comming but I don't see the backing, support or future vision apple has for this devise in the others.

The data plan like mentioned is only 20.00 and I was told (just recently) this is not a part of your two year commitment and can be turned off at any time. They say they view it like a feature package add on. I put the question like this...lets say I loose or destroy the phone...do I still need to pay for the data plan...they said no....two different stores said this.
