Hi guys,

I connected my computer to my iPhone using WinSCP and went to the Library/Ringtones folder and placed my mp3 ringtones in there, but they're not showing up when I go into Settings/Sounds/Ringtone...

I even tried rebooting the phone and still they're not showing up. How come?

Thanks again,

Nevermind, had to get them into .m4r in order for it to work. All is well now!

Thanks,

In case anyone else is googling for a solution to a similar problem:

I had originally just dragged my M4R'd MP3 files (convert .MP3 snippets into .AAC + rename to .M4R) onto iTunes, and they showed up in Ringers, and synced to the phone with no problems. However, even though they're on the phone, only 3 out of 12 are actually available in the settings, some ringers just don't show up.

Turns out that any audio file longer than about 35 seconds will not show up, even though iTunes will happily sync it for you.
Cut them down to ~35 seconds or less and they show up just fine (of course, that means I can't have it play Herbie Han****'s entire Watermelon Man!!! bummer!)

...or you can do it the easy way: use iRinger (http://www.iringer.net/) (it's free and easy!)
