iPhone telling me IMAP not supported.
When I go into my Gmail settings where there USED TO BE IMAP settings, they are NO longer there..
What is up?
Anyone else having this issue?
Hopefully just a maintenance thing..

i'm not sure what you mean. there are no settings labeled "imap" when you go to the settings for an email account. the imap settings are only available when setting up a new account on the iphone...

My wife has complained about the same thing today. Google must be doing some maintenance.

Hi macgirl,
I was referring to the IMAP settings inside the Gmail settings. IMAP has disappeared. There used to be "enable POP" and "enable IMAP" choices in the Gmail settings and now the IMAP option is gone.
I am a big fan of Gmail as it has always been very good about filtering spam. Coming from a Blackberry the email on the iPhone was/is a big deal to me. When Gmail went IMAP on the iPhone I was getting email at almost BB speeds. The weird thing (to me) was that Yahoo email was just as fast or faster but I have never been a fan of Yahoo so converting was not something I was sure I wanted to do just for the iPhone.
So now (hopefully temporary) the Gmail solution/improvement that was IMAP seems to be gone. That kinda sux.
Yahoo still works very well and there are rumors of OTA sync for .Mac accounts which will be nice.
Just thought it was weird that Google implements a good solution with IMAP and then yanks it....then again doesn't Gmail still technically say "beta"?
Then again, Google could be doing a thing like Yahoo where you don't see IMAP settings and it is done behind the curtain which is fine with me as long as it works.
I did some tests this morning and Gmail and Yahoo email seem to be back to their normal speeds. Yahoo gets there in less than 2 or 3 minutes and Gmail gets there in under 5.
Was just curious yesterday about the IMAP setting disappearing yesterday. This prolly isn't a big deal to most folks but an ex-BB addict needs his email dernit.

What firmware version are you running? I think GMail by default since 1.1.3 uses IMAP.

you can also set up an account using "other" instead of Gmail, and use the settings in "step 6" here (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77702).
