Ok after attempting to figure this phone out all day today heres what I know.

I'm using a 16g Iphone with the newest firmware, I bought it about 5 days ago. I did not jailbreak it or anything, its fresh out of the box. Since day 1 i've had internet problems it says "Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server."

It seems I can only use EDGE. When I connect to my home WiFi it quickly converts back to EDGE. When I connect to neighbors WiFi it does not do this and they usually have a router number my network doesnt have one and it wont let me type one in.

I've reset the network settings, reset my router, turned flight mode on/off, reset iphone.

So I can't use WiFi and EDGE is giving me that error message about 50% of the time im using it. I usually fiddle with some settings and EDGE starts to work again but only temporarily.




I'm out of ideas. Hopefully someone can give me a few more ideas before I go to the AT&T store tomorrow night.

(the lady that sold me my iphone claimed they don't use sim cards and theres no way to transfer my old contacts... please don't let me go back their :frown:)

Is it stock, jailbroke, unlocked ???
If it's stock, I'd take it back, for a new one.......

Brand new stock, im afraid to jailbreak it i've got enough problems with it.

No one else has this problem???


EDIT:
Also when im at home and choose my home network, shouldnt the E dissapear and be replaced by the wifi icon? It doesnt do that.

EDIT AGAIN:
After playing with settings for almost 3 hours now, I've gotten an EDGE connection for maybe 5 minutes and got the error the rest of the time.

It seems like the phone is confused. I put it on airplane mode, it goes shows the WiFi icon at the top for maybe 30 seconds and then goes back to the EDGE icon.

I just deleted my original topic post and reworded it based on playing with it all day today.

I'm still having problems, if anyone can help me out i'd be happy. I really dont want to go to AT&T tomorrow.

I would just restore it. That usually helps alot of problems.
