someone tell me what this does

I have a bunch of things on my i phone and dont know what thay do. First in the network setting VPN, the PPTP and prox. The TTY in the phone setting Tv signal in the ipod. In wifi when you tap a a connection then the blue arrow on the right it says DHCP/BootP/Static also at the bottom you have HTTP Proxy manual/auto. What does the debug setting do it says it has a message or something like that. What does air plane mode do i use it when i connect my phone to a docking boom box does it do other things.Why when im in safari does sometimes it go black and back to my home screen? Last in my photos why do i have 2 folders of all the same pics(photo Library). Sorry so long but thanks for yalls help

Some quick answers:
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network - a secure and accepted way for mobile users to connect back into a corporate network (as a primary example of its use) PPTP is point-to-point tunneling protocol, a commonly used VPN protocol - you might need to get familiar with these settings if you need to connect to a corporate network via your iPhone
Debug - generally provides info on application crashes or other system / OS events - mainly useful when troubleshooting something and *if* you know how to makes sense of the info presented
DHCP/ Bootp/Static - settings for acquiring an IP (network) address for your iPhone - the vast majority of the time you don't need to mess with these and DHCP (dynamically acquiring an address) will be just fine
Airplane Mode = basically turns the phone part of the iPhone off - hence the name, as cellphones are often required to be turned off on flights - using it when you connect your phone to a dock can eliminate the 'buzz' that gets generated if the dock isn't made to cancel it out
