Thanks. The one on the left is the female, and wears the pants in that cat family. The male on the right shares his dog-brother's elevator problem (doesn't go all the way up.)
Must be a guy thing, but the male cat and the dog seem to enjoy singing.

That is the reason we'll always have indoor cats. At first, the black cat (the female) use to enjoy going after insects. A month or so ago, my wife woke up to find a trophy - dead mouse - on the floor. I think it's safe to say that the cats have earned their pay.

Heck I would be proud of a dead mouse. But mine brought me a FRIGGIN BEAVER!!! Look at the size of that thing!! That's my hand. I have good sized hands. lol

Sounds like a proud daddy. :laugh2:
No matter what I say to the dog, he still enjoys rabbit by-products as though they were caviar. There are some pretty large rabbits and ground-hogs in Maryland. Wouldn't break my heart if Harry caught one.

Can't say I'm a cat person myself. I'm allergic to them, and I can't stand the scratchy tongues. Dogs only for me.

John, take a peak at my public profile. I've got first-hand knowledge of tongue scratchyness.
Doesn't matter if it's the cat or the dog, I get bathed. The cat's tongue is much sharper, but that pain is usually subdued by the fact that I'm clawed at the same time. My dog gets so carried away sometimes it actually hurts, especially when he bumps his fangs into my face.
Ha. Ha. But, I can return the favor. I grow a very sharp stubble between shaves. Sharp enough for back scratches. Hate to know what it feels like for the cat or dog to lick that.

I've had both all of my life. Right now though I only have a dog.

Having pets was probably the best thing for my health. Originally, I was really allergic to the cats. Over time, my body got used to them. By the time the dog arrived on the scene, my immune system was ready.

The fur on the keyboard I can live with. The hairball, not.
I have 2 cats. One is a very passive maine coon calico, and the other is a dominant tourtoise-shell calico, that is always getting into something, as seen in the vid in the link below.

Is Patches a little 'chubby' (asking quietly so as not to offend) or is that Maine Coon fur?

She's mostly fur. It's almost 4 inches LONG!! LOL But she also weighs about 12 pounds, so she's isn't entirely dainty either

LOL, yeah, it seems that nearly ever pic, but the only evil that is done is that Patches sheds a lot, and Smudge loves to sit at the top of the stairs and cry for 10 minutes- usually when we are watching something we want to really see on TV, like Lost.

Cat ownership. I have more scratches on my legs from the cats' use of me as a step off pad. One of my cats has an annoying habit of parking herself on my chest. Either the jealous dog or the loud children scare her and I'm doomed. Wouldn't be so bad if she didn't drool...

Here's a question for all you cat lovers; are your cats indoor cats, or do they explore the neighborhood and just come home at night?
Eragon

Indoor cats. Every once in a while, we have a prison break. Thankfully, they are unsure about going outside that they don't stray far.
Of course they are jealous of their dog-brother.

Indoor only. Because Hawaii is a quarantined state, we have a lot of restrictions on bringing in animals (no rabies here). Jack came to us from Australia (also no rabies there) so he didn't have to go through quarantine.
If we brought in a cat from the mainland, the kitten would have to spend months in the shelter during the most critical 'bonding' time. Because of all this effort, he cost over $1000! No going outside for him!

I only ask because my old neighbor who is a good friend of mine would allow one of her cats to roam the neighborhood. I accepted the fact that cats are hunters and tried to ignore the 'presents' left on the porch or the occasional 'catches' while I was outside. There were a few times that, cats being cats, they would play and play with the poor bunny until I just had to step in. Several times I made trips to the vet with injured rabbits (my own fault for interfering, but I just couldn't stand the squeals anymore!) One of the physicians in the culdesac still brings home antibiotics to inject for the animals he rescues, as his yard is a favorite hunting ground also.
My ex-hubs wasn't so tolerant, though. At one point in time we needed garage space and he had to park his Land Cruiser in the driveway until we were able to sell a car, and the cats loved to sit on the top of his vehicle (it was black and warm). Problem was, they couldn't always make it, and would slide down...and try again. He had quite a few scratches on his vehicle. We never complained, but it started to become a bit of an issue in the neighborhood. One of her cats was found shot, and had to be put down. :frown::frown:
This isn't a problem with cat ownership exclusively; it extends to all pet owners. I just was curious as to how the cat peeps felt about this, as I know my friend feels all kind of angst keeping her cats cooped up inside when they're such natural hunters and want to be outdoors (hers are, anyway).

In the urban jungle, a house cat has no business being outside. In more rural areas it might be different but remember that most indoor only cats can easily live 15-18 years. Life expectancy for outdoor cats is half that. Cars, FLV, guns (as noted) all take their toll.
IMO if the cats are neutered or spayed when young, they don't have the same roaming desire. It is up to the owner to provide the necessary stimulation and PLAY with the animals! Our cats are Somalis and they are very active well past kittenhood. If you have a Coonie like Hawk, they are quite a bit more 'relaxed' cats and tend to be better lap cats.

Another fear I have is the fact that so many of my neighbors have grass treatment/sprays. A neighbor's cat, who was an outdoor cat, recently had to be euthanised because of the cancer she had developed. Our cats are safe - indoor only. But, Harry scares me.
Harry runs around outside. I try to keep him off neighbor's sprayed grass, but he's a stubborn dog. Looks at you with that big black spot. A real issue we have is the presence of bunnies. Harry chases them, maybe too well, for his favorite delicacy is Bunny Droppings a la mode.

You must stop feeding him raisins! He must be confusing them with bunny droppings.....
