I have to say this phone is starting to erk the shi& out of me. Does anyone else have a problem with their email ??? Mine take forever to send and gives SSL errors all the time. Once I acknowledge there is a problem and hit okay it sends. I have turned the SSL setting on / off does not matter. I am using go daddy. Some other things bother me but I am work and dont have time to spew my anger.

He's saying stop criticizing the phone until you know where the smoke is coming from. It's probably your email that's the problem, not your phone. This is the best phone that most of us have ever used, so make sure it's the phone before you come out with comments such as "This phone blows!!!".

This phone still blows regardless. If I do sell it, it will be in pieces !! You know as well as I do, there are more problems with this phone then just email. This is not the best phone but probably the most advanced phone anyone has used here. Big difference.

Quick question, is there a reason for different ports ? Why would ours differ.

Never give unless you plan to receive. So for you it would be:

no receive unless you plan to give

So what about the phone "blows" so much? No 3g? no corporate services? Give it until June and all the current problems will be no more.

well shiner bock is my first choice, but I'm watching my calorie intake at the moment, so either Miller Lite or Mich Ultra it is.

This is by far and away the most consumer friendly smart phone ever. Revolutionary in fact. However, in terms of email support, corporate friendliness, and availability of apps (a la Blackberry), it is sub par. The internet experience is second to none, but I'm in my office most of the day and I can just as easily hop on my laptop. For the non-corporate user, I can't see a better smart phone. For those that want to balance work and personal life, I still give the edge to RIM.

I, like others though, am willing to wait it out until June and if the iPhone hasn't improved by then, it's Blackberry 9000 time baby!!! Here's hoping Apple steps their game up in the email and apps department (which I fully expect them to)!

Jailbreak the damn thing. Its so easy and you"ll have a whole new world of cell phone fun awaiting you.

Seriously im playing with my phone at least like a third of the day, getting new apps, customizing the themes, browsing for new development news.

Of course a stock iphone is lame and boring.

I am jailbroken and it does nothing to mitigate the poor performance of the email experience.

This happened to me once. I did a standard restore from backup and it's been fine since. I wish there was a way to clear the cache without restoring, though. Anyone?

How can I do a restore? Does it delete my contacts and music/videos?

Go into iTunes and click restore. its right under the update button when you plug your iphone on. and yes it does erase all that but if you sync it right before then everything will be put right back on once you have restored and synced again.

you could sync them with other programs then sync them with itunes

Your contacts will be restored. EVERYTHING is restored as long as you synced right before the restore. Right down to what web page you were on and how far zoomed in you were.

But ^^^ is right... you should sync your contacts with an external program like Outlook or Address Book in case a "restore from backup" fails and you have to set it up as a new user.

The iPhone is not for everyone. If I hadn't been a Palm, PPC2003, WM5, and a Blackberry user, I would never be able to appreciate what the device can and can't do. That's the beauty behind the jail break movement. To add additional flexibility.

The iPhone of today is evolutionary. I am looking forward to seeing what it can do down the road.

All sorts of email works fine for me on the iPhone. Yahoo, Gmail, several email accounts on my web server, etc... If you have a problem with free or dime-a-dozen email accounts such as those at Godaddy, then get your own web server, and then never again trust an email account on a server you don't own. At that point, it can only be your own error causing any problems.
