Hi, I have been reading a number of threads and decided to join up - this is my first post on any site so please be gentle with me!
I use a home PC with XP and have an old white Ipod that works and syncs fine. I bought a Touch last year and that worked and synced as well - so I was using 2 ipods on the same PC.
About 2 weeks ago I downloaded 1.1.4. I dont know if this is the problem but the Touch will no longer sync although the old ipod still does. In fact the Touch froze up. Applestore reset and then I got a message about cameras etc which I fixed from the help screens but Touch would still not sync. I have been back to Apple many times and in the end they replaced the Touch (thanks) but I am still having the same problem IE Touch wont sync. I have tried everything I can find on the Apple help screens to no avail. I have the latest Itunes downloaded. The Touch shows up on the windows screen but not in Itunes but the Touch and PC both beep at each other when connected.
Sorry if this an old and boring issue to put right but I have run out of ideas and cannot figure out why the touch was working one day but not the next. Guys at apple say nothing wrong with 1.1.4 and say there is something wrong with my PC. Dont understand.:gasp:
Be really grateful for any help please.

Ummm. I'm gona give a sugestion, hope it works.
If you have already tried this then forgive me.

Hold hold home and power till turns off and release power while still holding home plug into comp and conitnue to hold home till plug into iTunes pic appears on the screen. Release home and let it do it thing. You might also try seting up the touch as "new".

Thanks, I appreciate it! Tried the first idea but nothing happened apart from the Touch and PC beeping at each other. Not sure I understand what you mean by setting up as "new" - do you mean a new account? I dont even get the menu page start up to play with.....

Hi, I finally discovered the reason for why my Touch suddenly stopped syncing. The Ipod driver disappeared. It did not actually go anywhere - it was just that my OS (XP) suddenly lost the driver and could not recognise it, although the driver was still lurking on the PC. To cut a long story short, there is an address that reinstates the driver in the place it should be. Let me know if anyone needs it.
Normally, just by re loading I tunes, the driver should be automatically installed - but not in my case....dont know how this happened but my touch is smokin again.....
