was planning on buying one for someone, want to know if it's unlockable

yes you can jailbreak and unlock 1.1.4. I would sugest doing your reserch first tho.

thx for the offer, i know how to do it, ive done mine last week, just want to know if the ones bought from the apple store now, can be unlocked, not sure if they come with firmware that prevents them from being unlocked. that's all i really need to know

i bought mine last month and it is jailbroken as of last week. running 1.1.4 and some other patches that allow customization to work and what not. my understanding is that it is a little harder to get some things to work right using 1.1.4, but you can always load 1.1.3 on it and go from there, or just do your homework and figure out how to do it with 1.1.4, its not too hard, i mean i figured it out knowing not a whole lot about this whole thing. just read up on here and kept trying different stuff.
