You tube works better over wifi,
well actually everything works better over wifi.
Try you tube in a hot spot if you don't have a wireless router.
question.
are you jailbroken?? And if so on what firmware??
your post makes it sound like you got the thing brand new OTB but then u ask if there is anything that needs to be downloaded to fix it.

sounds like he's going to youtube via safari which WILL NOT WORK on any iphone. you have to use the application YouTube found on your springboard to view YouTube videos.

This is what I am thinking. When OP said was asked to download adobe, made me believe he/she was using safari.

Yep the youtube website requires Adobe Flash, which the iPhone does not have right now. As an alternative, you may use the youtube application which can be found on the home screen, next to the Weather application.

If your clicking on the youtube icon and its asking you to dl flash your phone has problems. Do a restore but i would uninstall iTunes and redownload it and install it. Your iTunes could be corrupt.
If a restore doesnt work i would make a trip to the nearest apple store or call them at 1800myiphone
