Just use ZiPhone, it's really easy!
download it at www.ziphone.org
Good Luck!

do you have AIM?
also, did you download ZiPhone?
Run it and select "Do-it-all"
and it will activate, jailbreak, and unlock for you!
just got home... I bought a 16GB... I think it is 1.1.4...
ok so what do I do?
it says let's get started on iTunes...Ok well here. First off i'd suggest you search this forum for threads using the "Search" function. Search terms like jailbreak and t-mobile and unlock and just read a good amount of threads to gain knowledge. When jailbreaking and unlocking it helps tremendously to have that knowledge so if something goes wrong you know how to handle the situation. I can give you some basics right now for you to start on. I don't know much about unlocking considering i have AT&T and use it, but "themanofthedark" has an unlocked phone using t-mobile and in the past he has helped those who want to unlock so definently seek him out. As far as jailbreaking you should know that if voids your warrenty. If you jailbreak, you should not bring in a jailbroken phone into apple and ask for help because you probably won't get it. Not that apple is going to take your phone away from you, but jailbreaking and unlocking your phone is against your warrenty.
That being said, if you ever are having a problem with the phone (i.e. sound stop working, pixel on the screen stops showing up), you can just plug your phone into your computer and press restore and then set up a new partnership when it asks you in itunes. This will wipe your iphone and restore factory settings. Creating a new partnership will delete contacts, texts, photos etc...so you should make sure you have everything backed up in programs like addressbook (contacts) and iphoto (photos), your music will still be in itunes. The reason why i'm saying to restore to a new partnership and not a backup, is because the backup will still have some files in the phone from the jailbroken state...
As people have been saying, go to www.ziphone.org (http://www.ziphone.org) and download the latest version of ziphone and use the "Do it all" option
Once your unlocked and jailbroken, visit this thread and i listed a ton of applications that i use and enjoy that i feel are stable.

I apologize if i'm feeding you information you already know, but when i jailbroke this is the stuff i wanted to know so i figured i'd be safe and give you that same degree of understanding.
If TMOTD can have 2 alias' why shouldn't everyone? He's SO respected around here.
