ipod touch - moving files from ipod to PC

Help!

I have photos on my itouch from a crashed laptop. I need to find a way to move them to my new laptop. I have asked people before. I tried showing hidden files and then selecting those files from control panel under devices. The problem with that is, my ipod is not showing up as a drive. Also, in itunes, I do not have an option to use ipod as an external hardrive.
If anyone could help that would really great. these photos are of my sons' prom and graduation and are very important.

id recommend if all hope fails, take the hard drive out and hook it up to your PC or labtop and recover the files from there. if you think you lost your files i think Tune up utilities comes with a file recovery
