Ar there any great advantages to the 8g over the 4 g? I don't plan to download lots of video, and 1,000 songs (on the 4g) seems like plenty to me.

because this is the "ipod nano" forum, i assume the OP is asking about the differences between the 4GB Nano, and 8GB Nano...
they do still sell the 4GB model, so i thought maybe you were thinking the discussion was about iPhones...

I'd go with the 4 cause I've had my 30GB iPod Video for 2 years and have only used 2.5 GB's and thats with 1500 songs, 3 photos, and about 12 youtube length videos!

Really? 1,500 songs should be at least 4 or 5 GBs. Are they really short and/or not high bit rate songs?

Oh my bad, I think I exagerated alittle, cause I was trying go from memory, so I went to my iPod to see how much was on their:
songs-1402
videos-28
photos-3
capacity-27.8
available-20.2

Ohhh, OK. In your original post you said you've only used 2.5 GBs when you probably meant 25. That makes a lot more sense.
