Hi, everyone! Thanks for taking time to share ideas and tips!!

Pretty sure going with the iPhone when I get home this weekend (traveling).

Question: If using headset/mic, is WiFi web access fully available while on the call? If not, would rather keep my Samsung and just have the Touch for surfing while talking.

Also heard about one app open at a time. Guess this applies to both. But when you switch back to a previous app, does it "save your place"? Or do you have to navigate back to where you wuz?

Thanks!
(sorry about the poll - caint spell integrated...)

We wont know the second answer till it actually released.

And yes you can access WiFi by pressing the Home button and going to safari or whatever.

Hi, everyone!
Hi! Welcome to EIC.com.

Actually, we do know, and the the answer is yes, apps generally save your place and return to the view you had when you pressed the home button. Try it out when you go to an AT&T/Apple store: go to the Notes app, type a new note, hit the home button, and then launch the Notes app again. Right back to where you were. The Calculator even saves the numbers (although it will forget if you're in the middle of an operation).

In fact, state saving is the behavior Apple recommended when they released the iPhone SDK. Also note, processor multitasking can be done, but it's not usually a good thing on a mobile device. Usually. More here... (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/03/08/iphone-sdk-limitations-multitasking-java-emulators/)

I think he meant more like when you use webIM or something.

Rereading the OP, it doesn't appear so, does it? Regardless, I'm not sure what you mean. If you're referring to a background daemon for an IM client like AOL Messaging, that does appear feasible on the iPhone platform, as I suggested, and as the linked content discusses. The downside is that it would tax the processor and likely the battery as well.

If you have the money, definitly get the phone!
Its just a no brainer if you have the money, you need to have the phone.
Theres no point for you to carry around two devices, and the iPhone does everything the iPod Touch does and more!

gotta go with the iphone.. Cause when you cant connect to wifi you have edge to fall back on.. Also there is no camera on the touch.. If you want to add photos to touch you have to sync them from your computer.. I just see that as a royal pain.. Swing the extra $$$ if you can and go for the iphone.. Oh and welcome

that's the piece I was missing. didnt quite know what to ask. but what i was after was, if no wifi, can i get online? so that alone ditches the touch for me. already with ATT for my samsung and have an aircard for my laptop, so definitely in the duh zone now!! :2cool:
