So I have just downloaded the SDK software. I would like to start a thread that developers can post problems and troubleshoot them. The first topic: Are there any developers on this site? Or people who know how to program and want to be developers?
Second on my list: does anyone know how the builder works? Does it store the new apps. on the phone or is it just running from the memory on your desktop. I noticed that it is plugged into the computer when testing. Yet it almost seems that apple may have set it up to run remotely on the phone instead of actually loading it into the phone. Wouldn't the phone need to reboot after the software was loaded? Because in the demo that Apple gave I don't think it did? I would like to be able to test outside the realm of my office.

I've been earning my living as a Software Developer since 1981, so I guess I can call myself a Developer, although I've never developed anything for Mac.

Info about the SDK and the iPhone Developer Program is frustratingly patchy right now, but here's what I do know;

If you have successfully enrolled in the iPhone Developer Program and paid the $99.00 enrollment fee, you can consider yourself one of the lucky ones, and the SDK you got from that will allow you to send the Application you have built, to the iPhone itself, and come June, your apps will be eligible to be distributed via the App Store.

If, like myself, you downloaded the free SDK, but have not been enrolled in the $99.00 program, you will find that the only way you can run your applications is on the Simulator. This is very limited in that you cannot Simulate anything that uses 3D Graphics using OpenGL ES, you cannot Simulate Accelerometer functionality etc.

I've waited many months for this SDK, I spent big on a new iMac to develop with, I have ideas for iPhone applications, and I have many years of Application development experience, and I'm chomping at the bit to create stuff for the iPhone, but until and unless Apple accept my enrollment, I'm dead in the water.

I'm a developer; but none of my work is really available. I mainly develop for myself and my business, a media editing company. I haven't got around to playing with the SDK yet, and I'm not sure if I'll send anything I make to Apple - but we'll see.

I've been a developer for .NET and embedded C/C++ for quite some time now and am really looking forward to developing for the iPhone. I've been working through their tutorials and such and it's been fun so far. I just wish I could get in to the $99 program already so I can test the apps out on the iPhone.

Look for some apps from me once the firmware is official and apps can be used. I'm working on a really cool thing right now that is gonna make life really nice.
