Since no one else has jumped in to say it, I guess I'll have to:
NO STAIRWAY!
:)
But seriously, that is a wicked cool app. As a guitar player, I can't wait to give it a try, although only 3-4 frets of visibility doesn't leave much room to really play songs (save for chords), what more do you want on a freaking phone??

I've been following this on MooCow's site - and it looks very nice. Much better than PocketGuitar. I play guitar, and I can tell I'll be able to play songs with this.

That looks great, can't wait till its released. Video makes me laugh though, the ease at which he plays on that is just funny.

Oh man, this is so nice! The samples are seriously quality... I wouldn't hesistate to use them (in the right context) in a real production. That says a lot coming from me...
They really need the resizeable fretboard from PG, though... Just oooone more fret, please!
I'm not a guitarist, but this will actually be a great learning tool for me. Sweet sweet sweet...

Speaking of "sweet" I just belted out Sweet Child o' Mine on my first go. It must have taken me about 2 hours to get it "familiar sounding" in PocketGuitar.
Not sure which I prefer however, I feel like I'm playing a harp with MCMG.

Any chance of you putting it up on a video for us to see? There aren't many videos of anyone using this new app yet. Only one so far that I know of.

I'm headed to class for the evening with the lady, I'll try to get something up after if we don't get home to late.

Yeah, they're both impressive in different ways. I really wish I could get PG working along with this for showing off at the studio (clients LOVE this stuff!), but I followed your directions, even using your .plist from the other thread and a no go.
But that's for the other thread... sorry.... this program rocks! :tounge:

Just got in a bit ago and I can't find the SD card for the camera. I'll have to ask my better half where it is tomorrow, she used it last on her trip up north :T
I'll post a vid tomorrow, sorry for the delay.

Yeah, this app is awesome. I would love to see an option for acoustic guitar and electric with and without distortion.

Hey x666x,
When you create the vid, can you make a slow version of it too, for us folks who dont play the guitar? I saw the Sweet Child O' Mine vid that was posted over at MooCow's forum, but it's way too fast for me to figure out.

Sure thing, this was my original intention actually :)
I just viewed the video you're referring to, and I have to agree its a little quick to pick up at that pace. Also, the video lacks the end to the riff that leads into the vocals, my video will also have that part since its so simple.
Interestingly, this is the 2nd video I've seen where people play like a slide guitar. Now I feel foolish teaching myself to play like I'm holding a guitar :P

at least with PG you could pretend you were holding a real guitar..

@TMOTD
Haha, that and the fact that "Open" notes aren't ridiculous to pull off. I just realized that to play an open note you have to pluck above the "Nut" which really sucks when you're at the very bottom of the fret and need to scroll 11 screens up then 11 screens back down :T
Gonna put in a feature request for more conducive open note.

RE: Sweet Child o Mine
I spent about 2 hours yesterday trying to record myself playing. When I finally got the song perfect I realized that you can't see what notes I'm hitting because of the way I hold the iPhone D: I'm holding it similar to a real guitar, which in my opinion makes it easier to fuse the notes together so your song doesn't sound "punchy" like you're typewriting. Unfortunately, that doesn't make recording the fingering any easier.
Anyway, I'm going to try again today, but this time from a different angle. I ended up using my iSight lastnight, gonna try the digital camera tonight. I'm sorry for the delay on this.

Indy - you're gonna be awesome at this. You've got 170 plus days to practice this iPhone air guitar style. I'm sure nobody will find that odd ...

That was the idea. I'd love to see someone play this guitar-style. I honestly can't imagine how one could do that.

press it anyway, its not always correct. I mean if it says that from the itransmogrify preview. If you're getting that message from the media player then I guess no dice :T

Yeah it seems to take a while for a video to "iPhone compatible" after you upload it. I guess it needs to be converted to H.264?

I found it by doing a search for iPhone guitarist. It's the 11th result. Plays good on my iphone.

I've found that you can avoid the wait if you upload in that format already, or share the file from iMovie directly to Youtube from the options.
