is this thing supposed to be spring loaded? I haven't used the slot yet, but i noticed it was halfway open, so the genius inside me decided to poke it, and now it's ALL the way open.

i'd consider taking it back to get a replacement, but i just installed an OEM copy of windows, and it doesn't like switching machines... of course, i do need to head to the apple store for some other things, so i may see what they can do.

From what I remember it is supposed to be spring loaded. I'll check for you when I get home...

i mean it won't be easy to fix it, so i may just end up exchanging... again.

the problem is i'll have to re-bootcamp, reload all of my Windows programs, and Migrate all my mac stuff.

i've already done this a few times, mind you.

I feel your pain, after going on 4 machines. Maybe the 3rd will be the charm for you.

True. I bought my MBA KNOWING that Tuesday would be an upgrade to the MB's and MBP's. Oh well. Just bring it back and do it right. I know that would bother the hell out of me.

it is bothering the hell outa me. i'm going to pull the case apart tomorrow, and if i can't get at the spring to fix, i'll return it.

and my windows is acting rather strangely, so i may have to re-bootcamp anyways... and if i have to do that, i might as well do it on a new computer...

Can't you image your disks to save the hassle of reinstall?
