Getting SPAM SMS messages

My mother just bought an iPhone after months of me telling her that it was nothing like the Treo she was unable to use.

After about a week of her getting it she has started to receive SPAM sms messages. In a single day she gets over 100 message from odd numbers telling her to goto web sites like youvejustbeencrushedon.com. The kind of sites I really hope my mother in not going to. The numbers appear to be either foreign numbers or computer sent random numbers. It's driving her nuts and since I am her tech support, its driving me nuts!

I told her to call ATT to have them block all sms messages to her phone but she likes to use them with her friends.

Any ideas? Anyone else having this problem?

Go to AT&T and ask to have her number changed. It doesn't cost a dime.

she has had the same number for over 10 years now. she is as attached it as she is with her new iPhone!

Then I guess she has to accept those random SMS messages. :foot:

is there a way to block all numbers except the ones on have in your contacts or a list you give to ATT

Not unless you go to AT&T and ask them to block each number one by one.
