So got a new iPhone for my wife at my ATT store. Out of the box the thing does not vibrate. I take it back to att 6 days later and sure enough they tell me it will be a $40 restock fee to get one that works. Or I could drive for 45 min there then 45 min back to an apple store! It just seems so wrong it makes me crazy.
att, i hate you so much!

When my wife and I got our phone the first two of hers were defective (no wifi) i had to pay the restocking fee twice but they credited it to my account both times so actually i didnt pay for it in the long run

how did you get them to do that? I mean, I'll pay the restock fee because it is cheaper than the time, but I am actually shaking I'm so pissed.

well we hadnt had the phones an hour when i figured out her wifi didnt work.
Went back the next morning told the mgr what happened he said he couldn't help i had to deal with apple . I told him that was unacceptable on a brand new product he offered to return mine and credit me the restocking fee he HAD to charge me. took that iPhone home and wifi didn't work on it, returned that one again he did the same thing again told me if this one didn't work i had to call apple.
Took the 3rd one home and same thing no wifi. All this after mine is working perfect.
I called apple told them what happened they sent me a loaner at no charge ( wifi on loaner didn't work either) finally received her 4th phone in a week it worked for a few days then started locking up
After that we sent it back to apple. loaner sent to wrong address ( apple care has done this twice)
Now i tend to just deal with the apple store. at the 800 number they are about as stupid as AT&T cust service. problem is i live in Lubbock Tx ,nearest apple store is in Albuquerque, good thing i have family there.
On the 15th we are going back to take back her 8th phone get the 9th and take mine in as it has started acting up not hanging up calls, crashing alot etc...

Something sounds terribly wrong about your situation. I've never heard of anyone having that much trouble with their iPhone.

I assume that even though you quoted me, you do not mean me.

AT&T told me the same thing, if I had a problem with it I had to deal with Apple. Luckily, the drive to my Apple store isn't quite as long as yours (about 25-30 minutes, same drive as the AT&T store I got it from)
You will most likely get much better service from the Apple store, and spend less time than you would trying to hassle AT&T out of the return fee.

I ended out just making the trip to the apple store. Mainly because I was so pissed at AT&T. Plus I thought it would be a fun trip for my daughter. Since I bought it from AT&T, all they could do was give me a white box exchange(probably refurb). That's pretty sucky, since I could have purchased a refurb off the bat for 50 bucks less.
Don't buy your phone from AT&T!

I will not be buying my iphone from AT&T for several reasons. 1. you have to wait forever just to get someone to sell you one 2. I like going to the apple store anyways 3. The AT&T reps are usually *********s (jk on that last one, kind of) I hate going to cell phone stores in general, going to the apple store is a much better experience IMO. (You have just given me another reason to go to the apple store)

I always buy them from the Apple Store. Gives me an excuse to go in and play with things. Also the AT&T here by my office is almost like going in to get your drivers license renewed. have to wait forever to talk to someone.

Yep, and they don't really have a line, so when people walk in you have to give them that look like, "oh you better not forget that I was here before you!" Its cutthroat!

It's funny to me, I never have any trouble when I go to the AT&T store that is on my way home. I have always been treated well and I bought the iPhone in a matter of minutes of arriving. Although, I do so enjoy the two Apple stores close by.

That's really strange... My Apple store exchanged mine for a brand new, in-the-box-with-the-new-plastic-smell iPhone, even though I did buy it from AT&T.
I guess it varies from store to store.
So wait...you had to pay $250 for a replacement? Even though it was a defective phone?

no...they just swapped it out, but it was not new...just a white box replacement. I didn't have to pay them anything extra.
I just meant that if I knew I would end up with a refurbished phone a couple days after buying, I would have just purchased a refurm from the start and saved $50.
