iPod Gaming Unit

Are there any plans by Apple to release a special ipod that will serve as a good hand held gaming system to compete against the Nintendo DS and PSP? I think this would be a great idea and would yield to huge sales for Apple in a whole new market segment! I would buy one if available!

I'm sure it is something that they have contemplated or maybe it is something they could be working on now. Apple is not very specific when they say what they are planning on doing.

Aything is possible but looking at the general gaming market for apple to jump in the gaming market would be a very big leap. Currently they are only just getting most pc games to be apple compatible. Apple has surely thought of this idea but the production cost and the market media developer frenzy is a market that apple has yet to open and discover.

I think the way to go right now is kind of stay away from the PC game type for now and mabe come out with something similar to a PSP sort... Possibly even competition for PS3 (full sized comsole)!!! While this market is growing, room is there for competition and sooner than later would be a great strategy for Apple right about now... Although they can wait on that until the IPhone is on the market.
