Well of course it would beat the iPhone; the current iPhone. By the time that thing comes out, the comparison of the current iPhone (at that time) and the current iPhone (at this time) will be like comparing the invention of the iPhone to the creation of the mosquito.

Lets just remember this is a concept!!! Have you ever saw how much difference there is between a concept car and the finished product?

It is just nice to know that people are developing nanotechnology.

You need to bookmark iTransmorgrify!

Do a search for it. It will convert all those flash Youtube players in Safari into clickable previews that will launch the Youtube app. It's free, easy, and a MUST HAVE!

By the time we get to a place where this is a reality the Iphone will be strait out of minority report. Pure hand gestures in a 3d holographic construct. " My name is Tank and i will be your operator"

if you look at where nanotechnology is at now, this is way way off. But still neat to think about

Yeah, man, all of our grandkids are going to have some cool phones. :D

I'm glad people are working on nano technology. It apparently has a huge potential in the fairly distant future. What I find interesting is that Nokia is spending money on this concept that is nowhere near reality. This is not even like the concept car analogy. At least concept cars are influencers in the car design market. This phone is 23rd century stuff and because of technological barriers has almost no influence (as far as I can see) on the current or developing phone market.

It's even a little ironic that people refer to Steve Job's "Reality Distortion Field" when at least Apple brings products to market now. Nokia is, here in this case, establishing expectations for what? That there's going to be some wicked cool stuff around when we're all dead???? Hell, I already know that. :laugh2:

Well not sure id call it 23rd century stuff, its probably closer to reality than people think, the thing about technology is it grows exponentially. Think back to the 1970s, the first ibm computers for sale came out, bulky and slower then my dead grandmother (love you granny) and who remembers the bowman brain calculater which came out then too, it sold for 80 bucks was big and clumsy and all it did was basic add/sub/multiply/divide. You can buy a pda organizer from walmart for 20 bucks that blows those things away now. That was less than 40 years ago to jump from simple calculating to computers that are self programming, almost AI. But the key word is exponentially, meaning technology is moving foward at an incredible rate, because each new discovery spawns many others that propel it further and further and faster as well.
Maybe in a few years we will all be just brains in a jar without the need for desires or emotions, except one, still gotta have my iphone so i can do a google search to find my freakin body.

Glad I'm still young (almost 19). With the way technology is going I will see this in my life time. :laugh2:

if you look at where nanotechnology is at now, this is way way off. But still neat to think aboutMan, they're using nanotech right now, and with Moore's Law, who knows? My bet is 5--10 yrs down the road we'll see all that cool Sh**!!

I'm maybe a little older than you guys and I can remember when I was a kid we watched the Jetsons and StarTrek but we didn't even have calculators yet. No personal computers, etc. Things have changes in amazing ways but what is striking to me is also many things have NOT come to pass. We thought by this time we'd have permanent manned bases on the moon and would have manned missions to Mars under way. Plus we'd have highways in the sky with flying cars. All rational predictions but none of which came true.

From what I understand of nano technology there are a lot of applications for electronics. Reduced energy requirements for new nano chipsets and all. But that a whole different thing from what Nokia is showing in this video. Eventually nano technology may be able to achieve all that but the research and development that has to occur is tremendous. I'm still predicting that most of what you see in that video is well past the end of the 21st century.

I'm not that old, but I get where you're at and agree with you. I'm a bleeding-edge techie, but I still feel like I finally stepped into the 21st century in the past 6 months with the iPhone (and silly though it may sound, the Wii). This stuff is some incredible tech, and if you asked me even two years ago if I would own this stuff at this point, I'da said no way!

This sh*t moves fast folks... better hold on for the ride!

Yea I remember reading about a folding screen about 6 months ago or so and I don't remember reading about any buttons on the thing, ideas spawn whole new sets of ideas huh?....And I think now that there is a market developing for functional portability people are willing to pay for it. R&D will get covered by the people that have to be Avante Garde, and by people like us that just like cool ****. I think the reason the moon isn't colonized is there isn't any jobs or money to be made in space travel just yet, once it's affordable people will pay. Where's the Howard Huges of the future? I digress....My point is there is money to be made in this technology and because of that I think we will see it sooner than you think. Nokia use to be on top in terms of cell phone technology maybe they want there spot back.
