Looks like I'm going to take the plunge on a MBP. My first mac since college in the Power PC days. not really "making the switch" as the majority of my music production will likely remain on my monster tower, but for everyday stuff and syncing w/ the iphone it should be pretty cool!
Anyone else getting a new toy?

I just bought a 2.4Ghz MBP back in December. So I think I'm good for now.
Would like to try Multitouch on the new MBP's, however. I wonder if this works inside of Office apps like Excel. That would be VERY handy for zooming/panning around huge spreadsheets.

I'll be getting a MacBook this week. I was going to head to BestBuy and get one last night but I decided to wait till today to see what was new. I think BestBuy is getting them on March 2 so I'll wait till then. I could get it today at the Apple store but I don't want another CC bill, I can just use my BB card.

I will be all over the MBP. Been using windows for years and wish I had changed sooner. Oh well. Better late than never.

I'm definitely going to be getting either a MBP or a MBA in the next few weeks, I just have to decide which offers exactly what I'm looking for. I actually have to decide what I'm looking for first though.

I wish the MacBooks had the touchpad thing. Definitely getting one just don't know which one yet...

I am also looking for a new notebook to replace my iBook G4. I know that kylegod and I have been posting that we were waiting for the new Macbooks.
I was thinking Air, but the Macbook and MBP give you so much more for the $. I am upset that the Macbooks so not have the multitouch. I am like Youngbinks. I am not really sure what I want, so I cannot decide what to buy. For price of an Air, I can almost get a MBP. I do not really need a MBP, but I really want the multitouch. Oh my! I cannot decide.
yes, been wait 4-5 months and years with ole clam iBook and just left apple store with my brand new MBP in hand!! :) now got 90 mile drive home before fire her up

I hope you do. How long do you have to exchange it?

14 days. there's a possibility of a restocking fee... and i work there, so that may or may not work against me.

Be careful. I do not want to encourage any of that behavior!
Man, I am getting excited thinking about how awesome it will be for you to open it up! Yeah. Have fun.

drum and bass and breaks... I am pretty much a novice at that, although I've been a DJ and music promoter for a long time!

My 5-year-old Dell laptop is due for a replacement, and I am planning to get an MBP. I am holding out for a blu-ray player though.
Edit: I think I will wait until June, when Apple refreshes all the notebooks. The new CPU's look awesome!

I have a 2.16 C2D, pre-Santa Rosa, obviously. The latest update just isn't significant enough for me. I'll be waiting until Montevina, maybe even Nehalem before I'll think seriously of updating. Me wants a case re-design (i.e. magnetic latch!!), BlueRay, higher res for 15" model (1680x1050) & the faster RAM capabilities...
If I hadn't bought my MacBook Pro after the update last June, I'd definitely buy now. I'm looking forward to playing with one in the Apple Store though.

I know I probably should, but I don't think I can stand it any longer. Between the iphone and this forum, I have decided to ditch windows and go for the MBP. It will not only be my first mac, but if you can believe it my first laptop.:gasp:

I think you should get it. I think if I really wanted a MBP I would get it now. We have a MBP at work for design and it seems to big to me. I really think I want something not so wide. And I really will not be doing anything that requires me to need a MBP. But I really want the multitouch. OK. I am just spinning in circles. I need to go to the Apple store.

Another hobby of mine is photography so I need a good graphic card otherwise the MB would be fine. I doubt that I will wait. You can wait forever for the next best thing. Going to Apple store this weekend.

In case anyone is interested in getting the old MacBook, BestBuy is having a huge sale on them:
Low end MB $999
Mid $1149
Top end Black MB $1199
They also now have all three new MacBooks.

Well, I was probably going to wait until closer into the summer before getting a new laptop, but last night my Sony Vaio decided to completely stop working on me. I can't get it to respond to anything and it won't even pretend like it's going to turn on. I have the extended warranty through Best Buy so if they can't fix it I'm just going to have to complain until they agree to give me store credit (which is what happened to me last time) and now I have the tough decision of getting a new MBP or the MBA.

I am gonna be getting a new 15-inch 2.4Ghz MacBook Pro within the next few weeks, possibly this weekend, and I will make it even more awesome with 4GB ram. I can't wait, as these are very nice computers from what I have seen. I love the design and, of course, the snazzy tech specs.

Got a MBP Tuesday. Also got the AEBS. Finally have a wireless setup that works seamlessly. Transfering files from an external HD to the mac was a small pain because I could never get the AEBS to recognize it. But I am really excited to have my first mac and after just a few days, wish I had switch years ago.

Had the Air, and have gone Pro due to hardware failures on the Air. I like have a Pro again, but do miss the Air.

Yea, I've had a rash of bad luck with Best Buy with Apple products.
