Interesting..the iPod Touch update was 165mb, the iPhone update is 162.1.

OK, 1.1.4 installed on both my Touch and the iPhone.

On iPhone, I just grabbed my secondary phone and did a quick SMS text session. It looks like they fixed the out-of-order SMS messages there. I also hit a very heavy picture site with Safari and it didn't lock it up. It didn't always lock up before either, but I'd say about 50% of the time it would.

Still tinkering with some of the deeper settings to see if anything else has changed. But otherwise, looks like SMS order is big fix here.

I had problems dl but finally got it... Had some crazy beeps going on like i was connecting to itunes via usb... then different language saying slide for emerency in german or something

You can jailbreak 1.1.4 with ZiPhone, you cant unlock it but you can jailbreak it.

I can confirm that it's bogus.

iPhone has always had the "Exchange" settings option in the Mail app. But it's not true Activesynch. It's just a different button to allow you to enter IMAP settings. There are no changes made specifically for Exchange support with 1.1.4. I'm looking at it right now...nothing new there. Someone just didn't notice the Exchange button under "Add new mail account" setting earlier.

I just ran ZiPhone it restarted it in restore mode and jailbroke it. I upgraded directly from jailbroken 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 and rejailbroke it in under 30 seconds.

Im now installing apps Ill see what works.

you're right there is an exchange IMAP option on 1.1.3 when you add a new account.

Can someone who updates to 1.1.4 check to see if the ringtone workaround (turn MP3 clip into AAC, delete from library, locate file, rename extension .m4r and add back into library) still works?

Yes it's been there since at least last month, likely earlier. I even have written instructions with screenshots from my mail service provider of how to set it up.

It's not true Exchange then or now...just takes you to IMAP settings.

Yes, you can do this. They always seem to release the new updates when i'm at work. So, I installed iTunes on my work PC and usually do the updates on there. It works flawlessly everytime. My data is always there when it's done....

The SDK is a developer's kit to create software. They won't give us a SDK on the iPhone. The SDK will be released to developers in late Feb, or March, then after they make us some apps, we will get them.:wink:

They did not keep anyone in the dark. It was on the screen when you can download 1.1.4 from iTunes. You can choose not to download it at that time. It clearly stated bug fixes and that was all.

i just clicked on my maps and wanted to see if an area down the street that used to be just a big dirt field was updated to the current location of a shopping center... Last week this was not on my google maps now it is so maybe some of the roads that were never update now are.. not sure if this has to do with the 1.1.4 update

With the 1.1.3 update some users experienced text messages being displayed in the wrong order and being mixed up.

There was a bug in 1.1.3 where your text messages would get out of order. This is apparently now fixed in 1.1.4.

i just clicked on my maps and wanted to see if an area down the street that used to be just a big dirt field was updated to the current location of a shopping center... Last week this was not on my google maps now it is so maybe some of the roads that were never update now are.. not sure if this has to do with the 1.1.4 update

I am still on 1.1.3 and my mapps have not ben updated yet, I own a h2 hummer and hope fully when the update comes it will be in my driveway. LOL. Unfortunatly Im not gona upgrade cuz of my jailbreak.

I hate to tell you guys, but I don't think the maps that come up in Google Maps have anything to do with your iPhone. They're the same images you would get if you used a desktop computer to access Google Maps. They are updated, but sporadically, and some images can be over 3 years old. It's just the luck of the draw.

i doubt that the update would have anything do with google maps since the images are being fed through the google site. its not as if the images are preloaded on the phone already or something like that... proabably just the area on the google maps site just got updated

Apple doesn't hate Jailbreakers as much as unlocking. Apple gets roughly $240 per activation through ATT. So far ZiPhone will still jailbreak this 1.1.4, but won't unlock it yet.

Well it wold be safe for you to update to 1.1.3 then unlock/jailbreak with ZiPhone. Just don't update to 1.1.4 yet since you can only jailbreak it. Which wouldn't help you much since your in the UK.

Well it wold be safe for you to update to 1.1.3 then unlock/jailbreak with ZiPhone. Just don't update to 1.1.4 yet since you can only jailbreak it. Which wouldn't help you much since your in the UK.

Well I know MacRumors has had a list on their site for quite a while now about what is new here ill post what they say is changed.

Notes:
- No Flash support
- iToner 1.0.6 still works
- ZiPhone may work, but the developer warns not to upgrade as it hasn't been tested.

I'm not sure howlong this has been working. I went into the passcode lock and it had SMS preview off, however I didn't original didn't have a code on. When I added the code, I had my daughter to send me a text and it only showed her name and advised I had a text and requested the passcode. It only works if the phone is in sleep mode. Sorry

Ok I've read through page 13 of this thread and didn't see anyone mention the change I did find. For all you guys out there *****ing that there are no "real" changes, try this on for size... Go into your contacts and scroll up and down. The alphabet headers are now transparent! Forget MMS and forget copy/paste... this is the real deal here... Can someone confirm this for me because I'm too cheap to own more than one iphone.... </sarcasm>

I wasn't holding my breath with this one. I figured they'd have to have an update to facilitate the SDK release and integration. So this is just the stepping stone to get what all of you really want... real native apps that don't suck. Anyways, sorry if I got anyone's hopes up... After upgrading to 1.1.4, i went to settings and noticed a new setting after wi-fi that said "NETWORK" and At&T....it was still connected to itunes then as soon as i disconnected from it , poof it was gone!!

i tried to click on it and all it said was 'searching'...but wouldn't find anything...

On 1.1.3, the iphone connection to my H700 BT headset and the M45 integrated handless were hit and miss. In the week and a half I've had the phone, I have re-paired them each about a half dozen times. Today, on 1.1.4, the pairing and connecting on the headset was flawless. Still need to verify on the Infiniti.

No major issues other than Poof and Tapp not being able to install, mainly because they look for 1.1.3. Will try to install them manually. Don't use Summerboard but I hear that won't install yet either.

That's prolly because you haven't synced with iTunes yet. Mine was as light as a feather for awhile there, and I almost called Apple about it. But as soon as the memory bits were loaded back up by iTunes it felt normal again.

There is a SMS mesagng fix as well as a safari crashing fix suposidly. The safari crashing fix is kinda hard to prove tho.

Not alot is known right know. One bug fix is with sms. The messages are now in the correct order. Some people were seeing messages in random order so nothing made sense.

Nah, 200 MB is far too much for that. Heck, my Treo had a third of that on-board memory and without loading apps still had most of it free. Heck, I had about the same amount of contacts, calendar entries, mail, and even to-do list entries on my old Palm V--and that only had 2 megabytes of memory.

Other is supposed to be anything on the media partition not recognized by iTunes. However, I know for a fact that the 200 MB figure is bogus, as it was there before syncing anything via iTunes (I did a full restore to 1.1.4, which wipes both partitions).

OK. I reported that the BT with my H700 was now 100%. The BT connection with the Infiniti (M45) handsfree is also much better. The pairing sticks and the volume is improved. I had to readjust the car's BT settings to compensate for the increased volume. Clarity also seems better, but I can't validate that.

I know that if iTunes doesn't recognize the data type, or if you interrupt a sync and say, a movie was bing uploaded and only got 3/4th of the way down, that all shows up as Other. At least till it's corrected.

Of course I cannot find the page I read this on and am now thinking the fumes of the cars from my drive into work have left me a little :tounge:. So, is it possible...I believe that 1.4 hasnt been unlocked yet but I also believe in the Vancouver Canucks as well:gasp:. Am I missing something here or is it the fumes....

Since I upgraded to 1.1.4, iPhoto reports that 2 iPhones are connected to my laptops (both MBP and MBA). It doesn't happen with the MacPro.

Ghost outlines of pictures appear in the window of the ghost iPhone. If I try to "import" them, iPhoto reports that they do have a name, but they can't be imported because "they do not exist".

Not a big deal, I guess, but weird anyway.

You will be surprised how much better a Mac runs than Windows. And the fact that you can run Bootcamp, then use Parallels within OSX to run that partition of Windows makes it a no-brainer for which computer to buy.

Both Windows and Apple serve their own purpose. Personally, I have an (home) office job, which means I spend loads of time on excel and word. A Mac simply can't beat a pc for this. Yes, you're gonna say "but apple has their own office softwares", to which I will answer: yes but it's total crap! Not user friendly at all, miss MANY feaures.

On the other hand, Macs are good for design jobs, photoshop, illustrator and all that stuff. I guess, the average guy who needs a computer to go online to check his email can either have a pc or a mac. If like me, you use your computer to actually work, you're gonna have to make a decision....

The reason windows is around is that you can get a much cheaper computer with the same power. Not to mention more software is compatible with windows than mac.
