Serial #...does it show when made?

I just had my iPhone swapped under warranty. The serial # starts 5K8060******. Does this mean it is week 6 of 2008?

Not sure about that, but it is a refurb. if it matters to you. Refurbs start with 5K.

Actually, I just read that since the model # begins MA... it is new, not refurb. It works fine so it really doesn't matter.

The 4th and 5th numbers together tell you which week the iphone was manufatured....mine starts out 7r728..... week 28. simple.

How can that be right? Mine would be week 30, about 7 and 1/2 months after launch and I didn't buy mine a few weeks ago. I was told the week it was made was the last two digits of your IMEI #.

the week production date is not weeks from launch, it is week of year.

hence, a 1.1.1 OTB would be 7T742 whereas a 1.1.3 OTB would be a 87305

Apple changed the first three digits after 1.1.2 OTB, in case you were wondering.

the IMEI digits idea is total bull.

I have the last two digits 61. AFAIK, that's neither a week of a year, nor has it been this many weeks after launch.
