This may be a stupid question, but I like to put my iphone in airplane mode while docking in a 3-4 year old ihome system. If I get a call while in airplane mode, will it go to voicemail?

What about text messages? Any idea if they are "stored" on a server and then sent to the phone once it is turned back on? That is the only thing preventing me from using my iHome radio.

Yep, text messages are stored till you can be reached.
The only thing you won't know about are missed calls, if the caller did not leave a VM message.

Interesting question. I bet they are tagged undeliverable but really don't know. I just can't see them being stored. Will see what others have to say.

I remember reading in a post 9/11 story that cell phone service was jammed throughout Manhattan, but that those people who sent txt msgs eventually got through. In fact, IIRC, one of the take home points of the article was that, if you are ever in a terrorist or other disaster, try texting, since those messages are stored on a server until delivered.

Your cell carrier will store any text messages sent to your phone while it is turned off. As soon as your phone comes online, the stored text messages are sent out.
Want proof? Turn your phone off, have someone send you a text message, wait awhile, turn your phone on and a little while later you'll receive the message.
