Camera's gone all wonky

And I'm not happy about it. Although it is yielding some nice album-art-lookin' stuff...

The usual troubleshooting does no good, so I have a feeling it's a hardware failure of some sort. It was fine a couple days ago for the last good picture... just noticed it tonight trying to take a picture of my score on Wii bowling (note the 6-pack!). I haven't dropped it or anything at all in that time, so who knows.

I will call the local Apple store for an appt. in the morning. Hopefully, they can get me in tomorrow. Just hoping I get a replacement that's as nice as this one has been (at least screen-wise)

I don't suppose they would allow an upgrade to a 16G version for the price difference at this juncture, now would they?

I've seen 2 other people on this site post the same problem since iDay. In both cases they did have to get new phones as I recall. Their pictures looked exactly like yours, only not of you.

just went to check my cam again and it seems better but when I move around with camera on it jumps I usually get clear movement but its jumpy when moving

Speaking of the last good picture... it's funny. I sit at this table in the pizza joint by the studio where I work waiting for a slice, like... every day for the past four years or so. And just a couple days ago I look over and notice the empty bottle of port they have on the table holding some lovely fake flowers. See if you can make out the brand of port.

I didn't know you could make Genius bar reservations afterhours from the apple site. That's great... those guys are... um, what's the word? Uh....

Oh well, they're pretty smart. 12:40 tomorrow to get a new phone [sigh]

It came back! I did a factory restore and fired it up completely stock and it had the same issue. So I was going to leave it as such for its return to the apple store. But on a whim, I decided to restore my latest backup, and lo and behold the camera is fine now.

I gotta admit, this scares me a little bit if others had the same problem and got an exchange for it. Perhaps it will be an intermittent problem that won't rear its ugly head again until my warranty is up? Should I print these pics up and take them to the apple store? Or should I just go with what I got (becuase I really don't want a 7 series screen based on what I've heard about them).

Ok, I'm not gonna post any more tonight, but it just went whack again. Like I said, intermittent. I just hope I can prove it's an issue at the apple store when the time comes.

Well last night I figured out what was going on. If I squeezed the iPhone gently right in the corner where the camera is, it would be fine. When I squeezed the sides at the top, it would go wonky. So it's a bad connect on the inside somewhere.

The strange thing is, it's REALLY hard to make it go bad today... like, "I don't wanna squeeze my phone that hard" kinda hard. So who knows. Weather is crap today anyway, so I cancelled my appointment at the genius bar.

So I guess I'll wait and see how stable it is. If it's reproduceable up until the end of my warranty, you can bet I'll be taking it in. Stay tuned...

No, if they replace your phone you cant upgrade to the 16 gig by paying the difference. I tried that. I wish
