So I went to look at the iPhone today, just because I do tend to like new phones/gadgets and I hadn't really given it a solid chance when it first came out.

I was immediately turned off because you cannot access your email through the phone if it requires an SSL connection. According to the salesmen there is no additional settings on the phone that allows you to enable an SSL connection.

I went to Settings > Email > Other > IMAP setup and put everything in then realized you cannot enable secure connection. What kind of phone would not allow this option? Stupid.

There certainly is SSL, and options in settings to turn it on and off, for incoming and outgoing.

So I went and started to read your post because I like new post but then I got a little turned off because you were hating on the iPhone so I walked away but then I came back and realized you were an idiot so I was like all good. Rad.

You got bad advice. When you tap on your mail account in settings, at the bottom of the page is advanced. You tap on that and there is a switch to turn SSL on or off.

Not bad advice, I just didn't feel like spelling out the exact path to get to the settings. If he were an actual iPhone user looking for help, I'd be helpful, but a basher? Why bother?

Good call. I didn't really think about that. I'll be more careful next time.:laugh2:
