when playing the iphone ipod, does the right speaker suppose to work?

A search would have helped you here. The right "speaker" is a microphone.

lol I crack up everytime I see a thread asking this question. I will admit it's happening alot less, used to see it 2 or 3 times a week.

Nope, that is the microphone. The speaker plays speaker-phone and, of course, music and other sounds.

I love how 15 people will give the same answer. "Yes, the right side is a microphone," or, "No, the left side is only a speaker." One person needs to say it (actually no one should say it, SEARCH) and leave it at that!

Ya know that's odd...

I was laying in bed the other night with my iphone face down on my chest... and my LEFT speaker didn't work.

Hmmmm?

Or even better the starboard side is the mic and the port side is the speaker. Go spongebob!!
