Also, if you have a Mac, Handbrake is definitely the way to go.

I'm on a Mac, YMMV.

For DVD to iPhone MP4's: Handbrake
For everything else to iPhone MP4's: VisualHub

I'm on windows XP and I use PSP123, it's the same program my kids use to convert DVD's to their PSP. It converts the video to mp4 and I transfer it to itunes. I don't know if you can download it online but they bought it at Target(in the PSP video games dept.) for real cheap and we all use it, it's super easy.

I am using cucusoft, although its not a free version. I love it, rips and converts all in one button and very easy to change the settings.

I use visual hub to convert videos, and handbrake to rip DVDs. I made a vow that I would watch at least one new film every week, so I usually rip a DVD some time in the week, and then watch a film in bed on a Saturday :)

when you insert a DVD, quit iDVD and open handbrake. When the drop-down box appears, select the DVD, and then it will scan the titles. Once that is done, convert the DVD.
