I almost crapped my pants at the end of LOST last night. It was awesome.

I cannot believe we will only get 8 episodes this season. If they are going to make more than 8, please correct me.

Depthenerd-I hope they film more episodes. But I think they have to write, rehearse, film, edit... (I am not in entertainment, so I am guessing here). Doesn't that take a lot of time?

8 episodes does seem a bit ridiculous, but the writer's strike and other events seem to take a toll on episode counts :wink:. Plus, it seems that seasons of major shows are getting shorter every day these days. Maybe this is so that the shows will last for a greater span of months and weeks. Who knows?

my DVR has not worked (2 weeks ago) or cut off the end of the show (last week) so I have kinda watched this season twice already!! yeah sayids flash forward was decent. I have a buddy who works on Lost pre/post production and he filled me in on the remaining 2 members of the oceanic six. I have a feeling that an 8 episode season basically just cuts out all the fluff!

I have seen the most recent episode, and I must say that I did like it. Is it just me, though, or does anyone else not like the flash-forwards as much as the flashbacks?


I am not liking the most recent episodes quite as much as the earlier episodes, but they are still decent. 3/5.

Ben isn't one of the Oceanic six because he was not a passenger on the plane. So he would have to use someone elses identity, but I am not sure there would be a legitimate reason for him doing so. I really don't think that him being off the island is "public knowledge" so the news would not be hounding him. I am pretty sure the other two members of the oceanic six are Jin and Sun. But we will see.

that was a really good episode. Once upon a time I kind of figured Lost would kind of fizzle out like the Sopranos and I would lose some interest. The writing just continually stays excellent! The incorporation of the new characters is brilliant, and gripping! Small details like the Black Rock painting being bought by Mr. Whitmore. I realized after watching that 95% of that episode happened OFF the island. I don't know what to say.........this show just continues to get better by the episode! I used to be worried I would be dissapointed at the end of this series, but not now. I trust these writers won't let it go to crap like other series.

i agree. and i think its because its got a passionate man behind it all. alot of shows are just run by the networks. but this is JJ's baby. just like JMS with Babylon 5 or Gene Rodenberry with Star Trek. They put all of their creative input into these things and the results show it.

It's almost funny because I read a theory someone posted on one of the boards linked off of the official site, where he theorized that the Island was temporally "displaced" because of the magnetic field it was generating. It explains why Darma was there and why the button had to be pushed, and why they were able to come and go from the island with the sub.
I think that Desmond is back to his old self now that he has found his "anchor", and because he used Sayid's name directly for the first time since his episode in the helicopter.
Desmond is going to be a major player of the final truth about the island. There are already soo many important questions surrounding him at the moment. Like, the first time he went "back" and the shop keeper he was trying to buy the ring from knew all about him and what he "had" to do. I would have to watch the episode again, but I believe she makes a "we" comment here and there, referring to other players she is with, but as yet to be revealed. Possibly the "dark man" that visited Hurley at the institution, and who hand picked the "team from the boat".
Right now though, I want to know more about the man in the cabin, and what power/ties he has with Ben's group and the Island itself. I think that he is the one that is creating the visions of people to direct the survivors towards some purpose that has yet to be known.
Ok, that's a lot of speculation for one post.

I think Mike and Walt are ON the freighter. They followed the heading Ben gave them because it's the only way off the island, and he already knew the Freighter was out there and that's how he knew that they would be rescued.
Someone faked the plane in the trench. I suspect that it was the dark man's people- whomever he works for.

I think Benjamin Linus is one of the most amazingly written AND acted "bad guys" ever written for ANYthing. Movie, Television, or Theater.

Michael Emerson brings true ambiguity to the role. We hate him, but I'm pretty confident by the time it's all said and done, we will realize his humanity and the good in him. His emotion at Alex's death was a glimpse.

He's "let his sadness turn to anger"... should get interesting from this point on...

And controlling the black smoke??? That was pretty big! WTH was that in the basement anyway??

I liked it when Sawyer called the village "New Otherton" very funny. I read somewhere that's what the makers of the show always referred to it as. And speaking of others! Ben is so manipulative. It is hard to see any good in him. I have never felt this kind of loathing for any other television character. When Ben's daughter was shot, we finally saw some humanity in him.

John and Jack are not evil like Ben. They are just human being who have made some mistakes. They are not perfect, which makes me like (or feel for them?) them more.

We need more background on Richard, but he is very similar to Ben in his ability to manipulate people for his purpose. I do not like him either.

Hayes-Yes, they have outlined the show for x # of seasons, and they have the exact number of episodes. I do not know if the writers strike changed their plans. Before this season, I think they said 3 more seasons...08, 09 and last season 2010. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

well. crash site and wreckage sites can be totally different. Just think about the titanic. When something drifts down into water it doesn't go straight down. so the wreckage from the non-survivors point of view could have drifted from where it actually hit the water.

As for the statue, I loved that. I always wondered what was up with the four toed foot that they saw in I think season 2. I'm waiting for them to incorporate the black rock in some way. Maybe Richard was captain jack sparrow. Would explain the eyeliner!!! :p

I think the part where Richard is able to be in both time periods at the same time is hard to uderstand,..unless maybe he's an alien or the black smoke in disguise....then of course anything is possible.
I find it amazing how the writers can tie things together like they do, and do it so far in advance. Like was this current plot line all concieved in the writers room before season 1?, or do they alter things as each season progresses. im guessing its written on the go as certain characters become popular and others dont...
