data usage question [Archive]

hey,

today i decided to set up a data plan for my iphone..
today i noticed that when my phone is locked and im not using it it seems that data usage is accumulating.

example..i check my usage is at sent: 267kb recv'd:1.1MB

i then lock my iphone and later go back into usage and i reads :sent:271kb recv'd:1.2MB.

anyone know why this is happening?

ahhhh.. i think you just answered my question :)

i set up my e-mail to gmail and its checking every 15 minutes.
im guessing if i want to fix teh problem i have to set it "not to check automaically"

ok so that was not the problem..
i put my e-mail to check "manual"
and it seems my sent has gone up from 274kb to 283 kb

anyone know why?

hmm,
the web pages i have up are.. 1. this web site ;) 2. facebook 3. meebo (mobile msn) but i am not logged in.

i dont think these refresn themselves.

its onlt the "sent" data that seems to be accumulating

where do you manage the damn setting to increase/decrease mail autocheck timing? and where to set the auto mail check to manual from auto? CANT FIND IT ANYWHERE..

this does not help me with my problem :(

but go to settings, then mail :)

Settings-Mail, It should be under Messages. Touch next to Auto-Check.

Have you turned your phone off lately. If not try turning it off and then back on and see if that helps. Not is sleep mode, but totaly off.

Under Mail > Settings, I only have the following settings:

Show 25 Recent Messages
Preview 1 Line
Minimum Font Size Small
Show To/Cc Label On
Ask Before Deleting Off

Right above show, you should see auto-check. Go into that and you can set manual.

Have you turned your phone off lately. If not try turning it off and then back on and see if that helps. Not is sleep mode, but totaly off.

Wow. Auto-Check had been here since day one. That is really strange. Are you near an Apple store? They need to see this.

In messages section of mail settings, the very first thing is the auto check setting, right above "SHOW" 25 recent messages.

I'm running 1.1.3 also.

It is a problem with the yahoo. Add a gmail account and the option with show up.
