need help ASAP!!! iphone v1.1.3

i am going to get an iphone from shop soon and most likely it is going to have the v1.1.3. So i want to know if i can downgrade and unlock the phone?? and what are the disadvantages ( like will i loose any programmes and most important will i be able to make calls)

This issue has been addressed at least 50 times within the last week. Search the forum and you'll find answers to all these questions
