I know 13 guys with Touches. 12 of them were jailbroken. 12 of them bought these apps and stopped jailbreaking.

Native mail and maps is totally worth it. The others can be easily replaced with iPhone-specific web variants.

Wait a minute what am I doing in this forum...

I think that the update should be free because nobody had to pay for the update when the iTunes wifi music store was released (probably because when you use it to buy a song apple gets paid).

my buddy that has the itouch just bought the upgrade. he was bragging about how his touch is almost the same as my phone, then i reminded him about edge, my camera, phone calls, and oh yea, not having to pay 20 bucks for the upgrade.

I think Apple asking for 20.00 from some, (previous) Touch owner's, but not, "ALL" (new) (and soon to be), Touch owners, is very wrong and very petty of Apple. Apple is making huge profits right now. Apple could of just given the update to "ALL" Touch owners, to show their appreciation for their business. Apple is riding a wave of HUGE success right now. Apple's arrogant, give us "ALL YOUR MONEY", attitude could be their downfall though. Mark

It's really weird because the salesperson did not ask me when i purchased my iTouch. She just told me we will give you credit. If I were you, I would ask and see.... I think Apple could give or waive the $20 software/upgrade....

These new apps are cool but I'm not sure it's worth $20. I wanted to buy this upgrade a few days ago but I got an error in iTunes and I couldn't go through the purchase so I gave up.

it WOULD be worth $20 IF new iPod Touches were NOT coming with them OTB. I'm not about to tell people how they should act, but if i were in this situation, i'd be writing very angry letters to apple about this.

Agreed. Apple has a long history of "punishing" early adopters this way. They always cite Murphy's law and the economics of tech when it comes to hardware.... but with software??? It's just plain rude, imo.
