I think people are underestimating what a pain in the ass Flash actually would be on the iPhone from a developer's standpoint.

You won't see flash until the SDK releases. Adobe is always slow with everything. I don't think Jobs can trust Adobe with a beta SDK as well... and Adobe probably doesn't want to be a guinea pig.

Additionally, Flash was designed for a mouse and point/click. It's not simply a matter of porting things over... what happens for a double tap? And drop down menus require click-and-hold. You can't simply assume every site is going to even work with the iPhone. Do you want mic/camera capabilities? All that requires hardware/software api assistance from Apple.

Even if flash came to the iPhone you'd still have people griping because it didn't a) render fast enough b) didn't include all its features and c) etc.

Don't forget about the fact of battery life. People already complain everywhere that the battery life is sub-par, Flash would only make it worse.

flash is a program that is run by web browsers to be able to watch online videos, play games, etc etc.
