This is a good announcement, looks like it will take care of the gmail issues, so will will prob be tied into a update from apple for the iPhone

My two favorite things they've done in last few days are:
-- iGoogle page - looks and works great on the iPhone
-- Customizing the Google Mobile Home page tabs - so, for example, I ditched Gmail from the tabs coz I work with it in the iPhone mail app, and replaced it with Google Notebook, which is more helpful for me
